Staying Prepared: How to Best Handle Emergency Situations

The recent flooding events in Ottawa, Quebec and the surrounding areas drastically affected many people; from individuals, families, businesses and the like, no one was immune to these effects. The silver lining however (which is usually the case during situations like these) is people coming together to help one another.

Something else which events like this magnifies is just how prepared people are for these type of situations in the first place. With this being 'Emergency Preparedness Week', we felt it was the perfect time to go over some important tips to help keep you safe.

When it comes to your family, it's important to start by creating a plan and build a survival kit with certain essentials such as: non-perishable food, bottled water, batteries, flashlight & radio (hand crank and/or battery operated) etc.

When it comes to protecting your business, things such as performing consistent data back ups, assigning pre and post emergency tasks to certain employees and stocking and emergency kit with appropriate supplies is important.

Remember that when you stay ready and prepared you never have to get ready and prepared.
